The Buddha’s first Noble Truth teaches not that life is suffering, as is commonly mis-translated. Instead, he taught that elements of each human life include suffering. A particular feature of life as a human being is that we all experience suffering in our lives, each according our experience. The second and third Noble Truths teach us about the root of suffering and promise a way out. In this sermon we explore these Noble Truths (which more properly translated simply mean “realities”) and how they offer us a bridge between suffering and a sense of gratitude for the whole of life. It’s a Thanksgiving message for troubled times.
